What is an enzyme peel?Enzyme peels are composed of fruit enzymes that digest dead skin cells while simultaneously nourishing the skin to reveal a brighter, healthier complexion. The best part of enzyme peels is they are gentle enough for sensitive skin, require zero downtime, and yield immediate results.
-
Is a chemical peel and Enzyme Peel the same?Like chemical peels, enzyme peels also help to dissolve dead skin to reveal fresh, healthy skin. However, the main difference between chemical and enzyme peels is that enzyme peels are much more gentle. Enzyme peels use enzymes from fruits like papaya, pumpkins, pomegranate, and pineapples.
-
Are there any alternative exfoliants offered other than the enzyme peel?Yes. An exfoliation scrub mask can be substituted for the enzyme peel. However, please note that enzymes are able to penetrate the skin more deeply than scrubs and provide more noticeable results (dependents upon skin condition).

What is a "power facial"?The 20% Lactic Lightening Peel contains lactic acid, a milk-based ingredient that is great for hydrating and exfoliating the skin in a gentle manner. The peel also includes two superb lighteners. You can use this product either as a booster for enzymes or on its own as a great lightening peel. Tingle Factor: 2 pH: 1.63 Exfoliates Softens Hydrates Lightens This is a gentle peel and is great for first-time use on beginner clients. Visible peeling generally does not occur.

Will I notice visible skin peeling after a "power facial"?In the past, chemical peels definitely made the skin “peel” due to the extremely concentrated ingredients used. Newer versions are created so that the same results are attained without the dramatic peeling (and subsequent down-time) aspect. These newer chemical peels still make the skin peel, just in a different way. Instead of one, highly concentrated acid being used (such as the chemical peels in the past), there is now a combination of acids (commonly alpha and beta hydroxy acids) used at lower strengths which results in the same skin improvement, but more subtle peeling. It is important to remember that just because the naked eye doesn't see peeling, it doesn't mean your treatment didn’t work, or that you didn’t/won’t get results. As the acid-hybrid dissolves the surface, dead-cells, you can have thousands of skin-cells shedding at the same time - but because the particles are so small, they can be invisible to the naked eye. On a molecular basis, alpha hydroxy acids (such as glycolic, lactic and citric) and beta hydroxy acids (like salicylic) loosen the hold dead-cells have on new-cells, forcing them to fall away. As a result, smoother, brighter skin is revealed underneath. These acids also cause the creation of new collagen and hyaluronic acid, which increases the overall thickness and youthfulness of the skin. These molecular changes are also impossible to witness with the naked-eye. Also, if you have been properly moisturizing your skin and absolutely making sure to apply sunscreen everyday to protect your vulnerable skin after a peel, the amount of skin shed would be minimal compared to if you were not moisturizing at all.

How do I upgrade to a power facial? If you would like to upgrade to a power facial please make a note of it in the "message" tab while booking. Please note there is an additional $15 fee for this add on. If you are unsure if you would like this add on please feel free to ask about during your scheduled appointment.

Why is my skin dry, flaky, and or irritated after my facial?Dry, flaky, irritated skin is 100% completely normal after any professional exfoliation treatment. For starters, what estheticians do in a facial is not something that you do everyday. One common exfoliant used in a facial is an enzyme exfoliant that eats away at the glue that hold dead skin cells together on your skin. This loosen process is so effective, yet gentle on the skin, and is a go to for many skin care professionals. So if you loosen it all up, not all of the dead skin cells will slough off right away. Some will be coming off two and three days later.
-
What can I do to prevent my skin from becoming dry and irritated post facial?#1 Regular exfoliation Make sure that in your skin care routine at home that you are regularly exfoliating the skin so that the dead skin cells do not build up. If you normally get dry a couple days post a facial, make sure that you exfoliate about day three. That process will help you remove any of the light flaking that you are seeing. #2 Regular facials Deep cleanses and exfoliations that can only be done at the spa are important. Since you only get one face, I suggest regular facials to help slow the aging process, work on your specific skin concerns, and to help boost your great routine that you have at home. #3 Moisturize Make sure after you’ve exfoliated your skin that you are also using a moisturizer that is appropriate for your skin. You may also want to boost your routine right after the facial with a serum. Not only will this help lengthen the glow and results of the facial, but it will help your skin to receive that hydration deeper in the skin so you can skip the dry days.
